STOP UNITED STATES POVERTY

There are millions of people in the Unites States living in poverty. Poverty includes financial hardship, hunger, homelessness, illiteracy, and a lack of medical care. People are living in their cars or on the street because they are suffering from a lack of money to support their family. Poverty is happening to not only families, but to children and sometimes people with disabilities. Poverty is very sad and in a country with billions of dollars nobody should be living without a home.

The government is cutting small programs that poor children depend on. These programs are very important to these children. The government also cut the WIC which supports women, infants, and children who are in international food and health aid. People depend on this program and the government is getting rid of it.

In 2010 the amount of children living in poverty under the age of 18 was 16 million. Children are lucky enough to still be given education but in 2010 the Condition of Education report showed that 16,000 public schools struggle with concentrated poverty.

There are also many people with a disability who are living in poverty. In 2008 26.1% of the poor population between ages 16 and 64 have a disability. These people should not be living in poverty, because if they need special services they might not be able to get in contact with them.
